BLOCK Dubois County Block & Brick manufactures both normal weight and light weight concrete block. In addition to making the traditional smooth face block, we make several types of block with a textured face. SPLIT FACE and SPLIT FLUTED. We also custom manufacture COLORED block by special order. When required by job specifications, or requested by a customer, we can manufacture block using the INTEGRAL WATER REPELLANT moisture protection system. SPLIT FACE BLOCK

SPLIT FLUTED BLOCK
Split fluted block stirs the imagination. It provides a wide choice of shapes, textures and colors to work with. It looks attractive with most other materials and in most modern styles. Best of all, it gives architects unlimited possibilities within limited budgets. Split fluted block is fire resistant, sound absorbent, and thermally efficient. Together these advantages yield important savings that top off the great visual appeal split face block offers. INTEGRAL WATER REPELLANT SYSTEM Our production facility has the capability to manufacture concrete masonry units using an integral water repellant system to provide moisture control of concrete masonry walls. The integral system addresses the moisture reduction of both the concrete masonry unit (CMU) and mortar. The integral polymeric liquid admixture is mixed throughout the concrete during the manufacture of the CMU, and a mortar admixture is mixed into the mortar. During the curing process, the polymeric admixtures within the CMU and mortar become an integral part of the cement matrix. They become locked into the CMU's and mortar to provide long lasting resistance to water penetration. Because the admixtures are present throughout the CMU and mortar, any water that enters the wall system is prevented from wicking through the CMU or mortar. While the System prevents the wicking of water in the CMU and mortar, it still allows the wall system to 'breathe'. The integral system's unique polymers minimize migration of moisture that can carry soluble salts to the surface and cause unsightly efflorescence. The integral water repellant system is less expensive than quality surface sealers and is complete when the wall is built. Surface sealers work only to the depth that they can penetrate. Should water pass through cracks in the wall surface, moisture may wick though to the building interior and cause damage. This integral system is present throughout the entire CMU and mortar joint providing full depth protection. Unlike sealers, the integral water repellant system requires no reapplication and is virtually maintenance free. |
